Precinct 2 Teams up with Other Organizations for Hurricane Harvey Relief Fair

The Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management invites residents affected by Hurricane Harvey to a recovery fair at the Harris County Precinct 2 North East Community Center.  The Harvey Recovery Fair will provide important recovery information about available disaster assistance from both governmental and non-profit organizations. Representatives from Harris County, the City of Houston, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Small Business Administration (SBA) and other volunteer agencies will be available to answer questions and help residents apply for disaster assistance.

Morman leads the charge for overpass planned on Federal Road

Federal Road in East Harris County was the site this Wednesday morning of a Groundbreaking for a new overpass, that promises to relieve the long waits many drivers have experience at the pair of railroad tracks that cross Federal and lead into the railroad yard. Drivers headed to or from the Washburn Tunnel, or Clinton Drive, have reported many delays due to the activity of the Port Terminal Railroad, which blocks the road with crossing gates and trains.

East Aldine Management District Begins Construction

Commissioners Approve Renaming Baytown Courthouse in Honor of Slain Deputy Constable

Harris County commissioners voted Tuesday to rename the courthouse in Baytown in honor of Assistant Chief Deputy Constable Clint Greenwood, who was killed there earlier this month.  Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Jack Mormon, who represents the Baytown area, spoke before calling for approval of the measure.  “We’re renaming this courthouse not because of the tragedy that took place there, but because of the incredible life that Chief Greenwood led, and the inspiration that he provided to so many people,” Mormon said.

Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Jack Morman and Buffalo Bayou Partnership are proud to announce the dedication of Buffalo Bend Nature Park to the late Yolanda Black Navarro. Family, friends, and community leaders filled the park on Tuesday, October 25th to celebrate the occasion honoring her and her service to Houston’s East End.  “She was such an incredible voice for our community. I can think of no one more deserving of this honor,” said Commissioner Morman.

A year after election, Precinct 2's Morman has 'sea legs'

When Jack Morman became Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner a year ago, helped by a Republican groundswell to the first upset of a Commissioners Court incumbent in 36 years, he joined four colleagues roughly twice his age.  He’d never run for or held office, never voted in a Republican primary. The introspective young lawyer, then 32, was green.
